25 June 2025 - Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) students were recognised at the STACK 2025 Prize Presentation and Appreciation Ceremony, held at An-Naura Hall, Yayasan Complex. The event was organised in collaboration with Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) as part of Brunei Darussalam’s Annual Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2025, and featured UTB’s innovation competition the Robotic and Coding Conquest (RCC2025).
The ceremony was officiated by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Acting Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. Additionally, in attendance was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Deputy Minister at Prime Minister’s Office (Security and Law).
The programme commenced with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Yang Mulia Ustaz Khairul Ariffin bin Haji Yussof, followed by welcoming remarks from Yang Mulia Tuan Shamsul Bahri bin Haji Khamis, Interim Commissioner of Cyber Security Brunei.
Now in its fifth year, RCC2025 has evolved into a dynamic platform encouraging students to design impactful solutions through artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The competition supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reinforces the national agenda of innovation under Wawasan Brunei 2035.
This year, UTB extended its innovation platform to a broader audience thorough multiple categories, reaching local and international participants aged 13 to 30. The categories included:
AI IoT Hackathon (Local Category)
All top prizes were awarded to Universiti Teknologi Brunei student teams:
1st Place: AI-Powered Beach Cleaning Robot – Awang Muhammad Mahran Bin Dr. Haji Awang Makarimi.
2nd Place: IoT-enabled Soft Hand Exoskeleton for Stroke Rehabilitation (REHANDI) – Awg Md Sallehudin Bin Awg Md Salishaknizam.
3rd Place: Search and Rescue Drone – Mohamad Hafizh Hamizan Bin Haji Asmali, Therresia Citta Binti Zaimi, and Ahmad Tarmizi Bin Haji Khalid.
