> UTB VICE-CHANCELLOR WELCOMES NEW STUDENTS FOR 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted a Vice-Chancellor’s Address to welcome new incoming students for the 2024/2025 academic year. Th event took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Phase 3, UTB. Approximately 625 students were admitted to the university for the academic year 2024/2025 intake.

The ceremony began with Selawat Tafrijiyah and the recitation of Al-Qur’an verses by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Naqib Ahwazie bin Mohammad Ali Khairi, a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student. Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Hadi Firdaus bin Haji Idham, a second-year Mechatronics Engineering student, provided the translation.

Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB Vice-Chancellor, delivered a welcoming address, congratulating the new students on their admission to the university.

The incoming class of 2024/2025 then took their oath in the presence of the university’s principal officers, lecturers, and staff. The ceremony concluded with the multimedia slideshow and the recitation of Doa Selamat.

The Vice-Chancellor’s address marks the beginning of UTB Orientation Week 2024, scheduled from 16 to 20 July. Organised by the Student Affairs Office and Student Representative Council of UTB (MPPUTB), the week-long programme features various activities especially designed to help new students acclimate to university life.

Amongst the activities includes briefing sessions by relevant offices and sections of UTB; introductions by the Schools and Faculty; various motivational, counselling, religious, and awareness talks by guest speakers; campus tour and volunteering programmes.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) booths were set up on campus prior to orientation week to highlight the variety of activities, organisations, and clubs for the new incoming students to explore and register.
