Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted a Vice- Chancellor’s Address to welcome new incoming students for the 2025/2026 academic year. The event took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Phase 3, UTB. Approximately 641 students were admitted to the university for the academic year 2025/2026 intake.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah led by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Nur Eyman bin Mohammad Saifulrizal, a second- year student in Mechanical Engineering programme. This was followed by the recitation of Al-Qur’an verses by Yang Mulia Dayang Azimatul Atiqah binti Januddin, a second year student in Chemical Engineering programme, with the translation delivered by Yang Mulia Dayang Nur Syahirah Najihah binti Mahmood, a second year student of Food Science and Human Nutrition programme.
Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB Vice-Chancellor then delivered a welcoming address, congratulating the new students on their admission to the university.
In her address to new students, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB encouraged them to embrace the challenges of higher education as stepping stones to personal and academic growth. She highlighted UTB’s recent international rankings and reaffirmed the university’s mission to shape future-ready graduates through academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
"Success is not about avoiding failure; it’s about pushing through it," the Vice-Chancellor said. "You are not alone in this journey. Always remember that your success contributes to the strength of our nation."
She further encouraged students to make the most of their university experience by setting clear goals, actively participating in campus life, and cultivating values of patriotism, unity, and service to the community.
The incoming students of 2025/2026 then took their oath in the presence of the university’s principal officers, lecturers, and staff. The ceremony then concluded with the multimedia presentation and the recitation of Doa Selamat.
The Vice-Chancellor’s address marks the beginning of UTB Orientation Week 2025, scheduled from 14 to 19 July 2025. Organised by the Student Affairs Office and Student Representative Council of UTB (MPPUTB), the week-long programme features a range of activities designed to assist the new students in adapting to university life, both academically and socially.
Throughout the week, students will participate in a series of briefing sessions conducted by UTB’s academic and administrative offices; meet with representatives from their respective Schools and Faculty; various motivational, counselling, religious, and awareness talks by invited speakers. Campus tours and volunteering activities are also among the highlights of the programme.
Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) booths were also set up on campus prior to Orientation Week to introduce students to the wide range of activities, organisation and clubs available at UTB.
