UTB held a Vice-Chancellor’s Address to welcome new incoming students held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Phase 3, UTB. Approximately 700 students were admitted to the university for the academic year 2022/2023 intake.  

The event commenced with the recitation of Al-Qur’an verses by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Naqib Ahwazie bin Mohammad Ali Khairi and the translation was read by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Hazman bin Haji A. Piut, second year students undertaking BSc. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering.

Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Waqiuddin bin Irfan, second year student of BSc. (Hons) in Petroleum Engineering then led the mass recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah.

The event then followed by Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB Vice-Chancellor welcoming and congratulating the new students on their acceptance to the university.

The new intake of 2022/2023 then took their oath in front of the university's principal officers, lecturers, and staff. The event concluded with the multimedia slideshow and the recitation of Doa Selamat.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Address is part of the UTB Orientation Week 2022 activities organised by the Student Affairs Office and Student Representative Council of UTB (MPPUTB) starting 18 until 23 July 2022. The one-week orientation programme is packed with briefing sessions and variety of activities especially designed to assist the new students in adapting to university life.

Some of the activities include briefing sessions by relevant offices and sections of UTB; introduction by the Schools and Faculty; various motivational, counselling, religious, and awareness talks by invited speakers from other organisation; campus tour; volunteering programme and others.  

Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) booths were also set up on campus prior to orientation week to highlight the variety of activities, organisations, and clubs for the new intake to explore and register.
