Yang Mulia Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, attended the International Women’s Day panel, which was organised by the High Commission of Australia to Brunei Darussalam. The Guest of Honour at the webinar was the Australian High Commissioner in Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Mr. Luke Arnold.
The webinar commenced with welcoming remarks by the High Commissioner of Australia and was followed by a brief introduction by the event’s moderator, Dr. Susan Carland. Also in attendance during the event were the four panelists, university staff members, students, and invited guests.
The event continued with a panel discussion on the importance of celebrating International Women’s Day as well as how issues such as gender inequality, sexism, gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and domestic abuse faced by women in Brunei can be overcome. The four invited panelists included Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB Vice-Chancellor; Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunissa binti Awang Haji Ash’ari, co-founder and Community Engagement Director of Green Brunei; Dayang Noorhafizah binti Rashid, the founder of the BIG BWN project; and Dayang Quratul Ain Bandial, co-founder of The Scoop.
The panelists' discussion was then followed by a questions and answers session and concluded with a closing speech by the Australian High Commissioner.
