Five talented Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) students have successfully secured a place in the finals of the prestigious Campus Legends Invitational Tournament, representing Brunei Darussalam from 25 to 27 October 2024 in Singapore. The team departed the Sultanate yesterday, with Yang Mulia Awg Mohamad Shah @ Muhammad Lutfi Hadi bin Hj Asmat, UTB’s ECA Officer, present to bid them farewell.
The UTB students qualifying for the finals include Muhammad Hairol Arif Thane bin Muhammad Khairul Amin, BEng in Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Ghazi Al Ghifari bin Haji Sani, BSc in Mathematical Finance; Muhammad Nazirul Na’im bin Amirul Shukri, BEng in Energy Engineering; Mohd Hafiz Shah bin Shahrolwardi, BEng in Chemical Engineering; and Mohammad Akmal Erwin bin Mohammad Zahrin, BEng in Mechatronics Engineering.
The students earned their spot in the finals after emerging as champions in the higher-institution qualifier, organised by the Esports Association of Brunei (ESB). Competing against teams from other national institutions, they demonstrated exceptional skills and teamwork in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), the mobile game submitted for the competition.
The Campus Legends Invitational Tournament brings together top players from ASEAN higher education institutions, including teams from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam, demonstrating Brunei’s growing presence in the competitive esports landscape.
