7th August - During the 19th National Youth Day celebration held at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, presented a distinguished award to UTB student, Basma bin Lachkar.
Basma achieved a remarkable feat in the prestigious 21st ASEAN University Games (AUG) 2024 in Surabaya, Indonesia by securing the gold medal in the Taiji Quan (Women’s) category, representing Brunei Darussalam as a Wushu athlete. Her outstanding performance highlights the exceptional talent and dedication of UTB’s students on the international stage.
His Majesty’s presence and the honor bestowed upon Basma Lachkar highlight the importance of nurturing and recognizing the talents of the nation’s youth. The ceremony was a testament to the ongoing commitment to encouraging and celebrating the contributions of young people in Brunei Darussalam.
