His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, visited the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) exhibition during the 36th Brunei Darussalam Teachers’ Day Celebration 2026 held at the International Convention Centre, Berakas.

Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.

His Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed at the UTB exhibition by Yang Mulia Associate Professor Pengiran Dr Mohamad Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, together with Yang Mulia Dr Mohammad Saiful bin Haji Omar, Assistant Vice-Chancellor, External and Industry Relations, and Yang Mulia Professor Hasnain Isa, Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Research and Innovation; Yang Mulia Dr Haji Mohd Khairul Ja’afar bin Haji Masri, Acting Head of Estate as Co-Chairperson of the Design and Exhibition Committee; Yang Mulia Dr Fadzliwati Mohiddin, Director of the Corporate Communications Office, and Yang Mulia Pengiran Dr Rafidah binti Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Director of the Corporate Communications Office.

The UTB exhibition was presented by Yang Mulia Associate Professor Dr Lim Thiong Hoo, Director of the Centre for Green Technology and Sustainability Research (GreenTeXS).

The exhibition showcased UTB’s commitment to supporting Brunei Darussalam’s sustainable development agenda through GreenTeXS, a multidisciplinary research centre focused on renewable and clean energy technologies, sustainable resource management, environmental stewardship and innovative solutions addressing sustainability and climate-related challenges.

The exhibition also highlighted GreenTeXS’ efforts in translating research and innovation into practical solutions that support communities, industry development, government priorities and national sustainability goals, while strengthening human capital development through education and training for postgraduate students, researchers, future researchers, innovators, leaders and professionals.

The exhibition further reflected UTB’s whole-of-university approach to integrating education, research and industry collaboration in addressing emerging environmental and technological challenges. It also highlighted GreenTeXS’ collaborative projects with industry and government stakeholders, demonstrating how research partnerships contribute to sustainable and impactful solutions for the nation.

In conjunction with the 2026 Teachers’ Day Celebration and its theme, “Teachers as Catalysts for Sustainable Education and Innovation,” the exhibition underscored the important role of education, research and innovation in nurturing future-ready talent, strengthening partnerships and advancing sustainable solutions for Brunei Darussalam and beyond.

Through its participation in the 36th Brunei Darussalam Teachers’ Day Celebration, UTB reaffirmed its commitment to advancing research excellence, nurturing future-ready talent and strengthening partnerships with government, industry and the wider community. The exhibition reflected UTB’s continuing contribution towards national development and regional efforts to build a resilient, innovative and sustainable future.
