Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) celebrated a significant milestone this morning with the launch of the Brunei Affiliate of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). The event, held in the Main Conference Room at UTB, marked an important step towards supporting and advancing the careers of women engineers in Brunei.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by an introduction to the Society of Women Engineers and an overview of upcoming events and initiatives. Yang Mulia Dr. Syazana Abdullah Lim, the focal point of the Brunei Affiliate of SWE, led this informative session.

One of the highlights of the event was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, officiated by two distinguished guests: Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, UTB Vice-Chancellor, and Her Excellency Caryn R. McClelland, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Brunei Darussalam.

The event concluded with a symbolic presentation of SWE certificate of accreditation. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Brunei Darussalam presented the certificate to the UTB Vice-Chancellor, signifying the official establishment of the Brunei Affiliate of SWE.

As part of a global initiative, the Brunei Affiliate of the society of Women Engineers aims to support and advance the careers of women engineers in Brunei. The group will focus on professional development, outreach activities, and creating connections for career opportunities, all tailored to the unique needs of women in the engineering field in within Brunei.
