> UTB INKS PARTNERSHIPS WITH BERJAYA SDN BHD AND HAN S.L SDN BHD FOR INNOVATIVE EV CHARGING SOLUTIONS

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held a signing ceremony to establish key partnerships with with Berjaya Sendirian Berhad and Han S.L. Sendirian Berhad, underscoring UTB’s commitment to industry-academic collaboration. The event, hosted at UTB’s Pearl Building, was attended by Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, as the Guest of Honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming remark from Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah Wida Susanty bin Haji Suhaili, Director of UTB’s Centre for Transport Research (CfTR). Remarks were also delivered by Yang Mulia Pengiran Irwan @ Pengiran Irwan Ab Rahaman bin Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, Managing Director of Berjaya Sdn Bhd, and Yang Mulia Mr. Ramil Luna Triambulo, General Manager of Han S.L. Sdn Bhd.

The event featured the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between UTB and Berjaya Sdn Bhd for a collaborative research project on the feasibility of a Solar PV Powered Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station. This innovative project aims to explore the use of solar energy for EV charging infrastructure in Brunei Darussalam, aligning with the nation’s sustainability goals.

Yang Mulia Professor Dr Mohamed Hasnain Isa, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), signed the agreement for UTB, with  Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah Wida Susanty bin Haji Suhaili, Director of UTB’s Centre for Transport Research (CfTR), as witness. Representing Berjaya Sdn Bhd was Yang Mulia Pengiran Irwan @ Pengiran Irwan Ab Rahaman bin Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, Managing Director of Berjaya Sdn Bhd, with Miss Kelly Chin Kee Lee, Head of Sales, as witness.

In the agreement Berjaya Sdn Bhd will provide a NETA EV for the research, enabling UTB researchers to assess the viability of solar-powered EV charging systems. The results will be published academically, recognising Berjaya Sdn Bhd’s crucial contribution to this research.

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to expand collaborations with Han S.L. Sdn Bhd, establishing a framework for ongoing collaboration in research, education, and training, particularly in engineering, technology, and EV infrastructure. Yang Mulia Professor Dr Mohamed Hasnain Isa, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), signed the agreement for UTB, with  Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah Wida Susanty bin Haji Suhaili, Director of UTB’s Centre for Transport Research (CfTR), as witness, while Han S.L. Sdn Bhd was represented by Mr. Ramil Luna Triambulo, General Manager, and Mohamad Jairul Nizam bin Haji Mohamad Jait, Specialist in EV Charging Network, as witness.

These partnerships aim to advance sustainable transportation solutions and drive innovation in Brunei's engineering and technology sectors. By combining industry expertise with academic research, the initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to Brunei's green future while enhancing UTB's international research partnerships.
