Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Makan Ceria Sendirian Berhad (Sdn Bhd), the operator of McDonald’s Brunei, forged a new partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This collaboration aims to enhance cooperation in research, education, and training, with a particular focus on the Food Science and Technology Programme.
The MOU was formalised by Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah Haji Sulaiman, Vice Chancellor of UTB and Yang Mulia Edzwan Zukri bin Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Adanan, Chairman of Makan Ceria Sdn Bhd.
Through this partnership, UTB students will gain invaluable industry experience by participating in industrial placements and joint research projects specifically related to food science and technology. Additionally, the MOU facilitates staff exchanges for study visits, teaching and training, fostering mutual knowledge and expertise between academia and industry.
Both parties have committed to exploring and developing collaborative research initiatives, seminars and projects in areas of mutual interest, such as food safety, and food processing technologies. This collaborative effort aims to advance education and professional development in Brunei, particularly in the domain of food science and technology.
The MOU is effective for five years, with an option for renewal, solidifying the long-term commitment of UTB and Makan Ceria Sdn Bhd to this partnership and its broader impact on the local industry and academia.
