> UTB INAUGURATES ODYSSEY SUMMER PROGRAMME AND WELCOMES UMAP DISCOVERY CAMP 2024 PARTICIPANTS WITH HIGH TEA

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) launched the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) Discovery Camp 2024 Brunei Odyssey, coinciding with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2024. The programme’s inception was celebrated with a high tea reception for participants at the Garden’s Veranda Banquet Hall and Restaurant, Rimba Garden Central.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by Dr Hjh Roslynna binti Hj Rosli, Director of Tri-Ced, delivering a warm welcome address. Participants of the Brunei Odyssey Summer Programme were the presented with a commemorative memento.

Distinguished guests at the event included Her Excellency Madam Ambra Dickie, The High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei Darussalam; His Excellency Mr Xiao Jianguo Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of The People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam; Her Excellency Madam Boosara Kanchanalai Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of The Royal Thai Embassy; Her Excellency Madam Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Iganacio Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of The Republic of The Philippines to Brunei Darussalam; and Mrs. Nur Ezira Mahadi, Deputy High Commissioner of Malaysia, High Commission of Malaysia in Brunei Darussalam, alongside Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hjh Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB; UTB Principal Officers and university staff.

The Odyssey Summer Programme, a 13-day immersive experience, aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Brunei’s cultural diversity, lush ecosystems, and Islamic heritage. The programme offers a unique blend of interactive activities, classroom sessions, and outdoor adventures. Participants will explore Brunei’s rich cultural tapestry through experiences such as jungle-to-plate cuisine, handicraft workshops, and exposure to tribal arts, music, and customs. The itinerary also includes visits to exhibition galleries, museums, and historical landmarks offering insights into Brunei's Islamic heritage and historical significance.
