UTB hosted a vibrant Gong Xi Raya celebration in conjunction with the University’s 40th Anniversary at the Multi-Purpose Hall, UTB. The festive event brought together staff, students, and invited guests in a joyous expression of unity and cultural appreciation.
Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
Also present during the event were His Excellency Prof. Dr. Hamit Ersoy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye; Her Excellency Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines; His Excellency Heuankeo Sangsomsak, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic; His Excellency Weert Börner, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany; and Representatives from the Embassy of Japan.
Also among the invited guests were UTB alumni, former UTB staff, Ministry of Education, satellite partners, major sponsors, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), and Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPUSB) and other invited organisations.
The celebration began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a Doa Selamat. The Guest of Honour delivered the Hari Raya address and officially launched the UTB Gong Xi Raya special video presentation, highlighting the spirit of unity and cultural diversity within the UTB community.
Following the opening segment, the Guest of Honour visited the Raya booths to meet participants and view the creative displays prepared by various faculties, schools, and departments.
Guests were then treated to a series of engaging performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage and talents of UTB students, including dance and singing performances, as well as an interactive quiz session. A flashback video presentation of previous Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year celebrations added a nostalgic touch to the event.
The event concluded with prize presentation ceremony, recognising winners for Best Dressed (Male and Female) among staff and students, as well as Best Booth Decoration.
