In a significant move towards fostering innovation and collaboration, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Brunei Fertilizer Industries (BFI) Sendirian Berhad have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the UTB Gallery, The Pearl. This strategic alliance aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, creating a platform for joint research, educational exchanges, and professional development.

The ceremony began with welcoming remarks from Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. This was followed by remarks by Yang Mulia Dr Harri Kiiski, Chief Executive Officer of BFI Sdn Bhd.

The event proceeded with the MoU signing, representing UTB; the MoU was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, witnessed by Mr Lim Chui Hua, Registrar and Secretary of UTB.

On behalf of BFI, the MoU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of BFI Sdn Bhd and witnessed by Hajah Nur Raihan DP Haji Mohd Rosli, Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BFI.

The scopes of the MoU are comprehensive and multifaceted, aiming to create a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative development. The MoU includes the exchange of UTB undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing them with invaluable industry experience and exposure to real-world applications of their academic knowledge. Additionally, the exchange of practitioners and academics is set to enhance the professional development of staff from both UTB and BFI, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Joint research projects, conferences, and seminars are also critical components of the MoU. These initiatives will facilitate the sharing of cutting-edge research and best practices, driving advancements in the academic and industrial sectors. By working together on these projects, UTB and BFI aim to address critical challenges and explore new opportunities for growth and development.

The MoU also encompasses cooperation in other areas, reflecting the broad scope of potential collaboration between UTB and BFI. This flexibility ensures the partnership can adapt to emerging needs and opportunities, maximising its impact over time.
