19 April 2025 - Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted a lively Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration themed “Raya Mendonia”at the Dewan Serbaguna, UTB. The festive gathering brought together students, staff, and invited guests in a joyous expression of unity and cultural appreciation.
The event was attended by the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Dr. Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB. UTB was also honoured by the presence of distinguished guests from Brunei’s key higher education institutions, including:
- Hazri bin Haji Kefli, Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD)
- Dato Seri Dr. Hj Norarfan bin Hj Zainal, Rector, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
- Teo Siew Yean, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), UBD
- Associate Professor Pengiran Dr. Mohamad Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Education), UBD
- Haji Arman bin Haji Asmad, Acting Deputy Rector (Policy & Corporate), UNISSA
- Awang Haji Hambali bin Haji Awang Jaili, Assistant Rector (Research, International & Service), UNISSA
- Arbaniah binti Hj Sablee, Assistant Director (Corporate, Planning and Development), Politeknik Brunei
The event began with a recital of Do’a Al-Fatihah by Ustaz Md Fazalley bin Haji Hidup, Head of the Religious Unit, UTB, seeking blessings for the celebration and its participants.
Following the opening event, guests were treated to an engaging lineup of cultural performances, including a traditional Gulingtangan presentation and a special Hari Raya video titled “UTB Raya 2025”. A festive buffet was served, providing a chance for all to enjoy.
Performances by UTB staff and students, including a presentation from the SkPPA, added colour and excitement to the event. The celebration concluded with a best-dressed award presentation.
UTB’s Hari Raya celebration not only reflected joyous spirit of Hari Raya but also demonstrated the unity and spirit of collaboration among Brunei’s higher education community. The university extends its heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to making “Raya Mendonia” a meaningful and memorable event
