Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted the final Debate competition of the Chancellor’s Trophy 2022, held this morning at the Lecture Theater 2 of UTB.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB Vice-Chancellor. Also present were UTB principal officers, staff, students and public spectators.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Yang Mulia Awang Abdul Hakeem bin Samsul Bahri, Representative ExCo Religious and Spiritual Affairs, UTB Student Representative Council Session 2022/2023. This was followed by a welcoming remark by Yang Mulia Dayang Adriana Muzfirah binti Haji Roslan, Chairperson of Chancellor’s Trophy Debate Competition, UTB Student Representative Council Session 2022/2023.
The event then proceeds with the final round of Chancellor’s Trophy Debate between Politeknik Brunei and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA). The session was evaluated by adjudicators, namely Mr Robert Tunnell, CfBT Head of Teaching and Learning; Yang Mulia Muhammad Yadiy bin Haji Mat Yassin, Lecturer of Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPUSB); and Melvin bin Moning, representative from UTB.
After a thorough evaluations the winner of the final round debate competition, Politeknik Brunei emerged victorious whereas UNISSA placed second place, and UTB placed third. The event concluded with the prize presentations for badminton, chess, e-sports, frisbee, and debate competitions by the Guest of Honour.
The closing ceremony of the Chancellor’s Trophy 2022 will be held on the 18 March 2023 at the Royal Berkshire Hall, Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club, Jerudong.
