Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) co-organised the Robotic and Coding Conquest 2022 with Amazon Web Services (AWS) this year. The opening ceremony of the event was held today at the Sejati Room 4, International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was Yang Mulia Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a Welcoming Speech by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services), Yang Mulia Dr. Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar, Chairperson of the Robotic and Coding Conquest 2022. The event then continued with a meet and greet session by the Guest of Honour with the participants of the Robotic and Coding Conquest this year.
The Robotic and Coding Conquest is a competition that has been designed to attract participants from secondary school students, higher education students and professionals. The aim of the competition is to build 4IR skills and nurture a culture of innovation.
The Technology Workshop 4IR - Robotic and Coding Conquest 2022 commenced from today 8 June 2022 until 11 June 2022 for four consecutive days. The workshop introduces and explores the topics of Internet of things; Robotic and AI; Artificial Intelligence for Mobile Applications (AI4MA); and Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality.
The four-day workshop will deliver different topics by different speakers for each day, in which for the Internet of Things will be delivered by UTB lecturers namely Dr. Wida Susanty binti Haji Suhaili, Dr. Ravi Kumar Patchmuthu, Awang Haji Rudy Erwan bin Haji Ramlie, and Haji Ismit bin Haji Mohamad.
For Robotic and AI, the speakers will be Dr. Lim Tiong Hoo, Khairuddin bin Haji Ghafar / Haji Abd. Gapar, Pengiran Muhammad Nazri bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad, and Dr Sharina binti Yunus.
Whereas for AI4MA, the workshop will be facilitated by Professor Dr. Somnuk Phon-Amnuaisuk. Last but not least, the speakers for Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality will be led by Ibrahim bin Idris and the Creative Computing Lecturers of UTB.
The main purpose of this workshop is to expose the public to the 4IR technology which will be presented by the lecturers from UTB. Moreover, the workshop participants will also be briefed on the Robotic and Coding Conquest 2022 competition which will be held in December 2022 in conjunction with the December Festival. The Robotic and Coding Conquest 2022 is divided into two categories, the first category is open for secondary school students which is a task-based challenge together with construct and code. Whereas for the second category is a project-based creative design challenge and solutions to real world problems using high tech, which is open for the students in higher education as well as business entrepreneurs.
