Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Shell Eco-Marathon Association (SEMA) 2024, named UTB Eco-Drive Team 2024, is gearing up to participate in the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2024 competition. This prestigious event is set to take place from 2 to 6 July 2024, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit in Lombok, Indonesia.

The team was sent off at a ceremony attended by Yang Mulia Dr Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), and Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, Vice- Chancellor of UTB.
The 13-member team includes student representatives Nadeeya binti Muhammad Muslley, Md Afdlin Saufee Iylias bin Hj Mohammad Suffian, Md Abdul Raziq bin Abdullah, Ak Mohammad Afiq Syazwan bin Pg Hj Rosli, Md Khairulamirin bin Awg Shahrol, Zikry Amani bin Azma’in, Dk Syazwani bt Pg Hj Ismail Kairuluddin, Arif Rusyaidi bin Abd Rahman, and Md Aminin bin Haji Azlan. They will be accompanied by UTB staff members Dr Sheik Mohammed Sulthan, Pg Dr Seri Rahayu binti Pg Ya’akub, Md Aqil Fikry Hj Mohd Shafiee, and Hj Abd Azim bin Hj Said, who have pivotal in mentoring the team.

UTB Eco-Drive Team 2024 is one of three institutions representing Brunei in this prestigious regional competition. They will compete in the Battery Electric category with their prototype vehicle, The Pahlawan VIII, which showcases the students’ innovation, technical skills, and commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

The participation underscores UTB’s dedication to promoting innovation and excellence in engineering and technology. The university community and the nation at large are rallying behind UTB Eco-Drive Team 2024, recognising their involvement not only brings honour to UTB but also represents Brunei Darussalam on an international platform, highlighting the country’s commitment to sustainability and technological progress.
