The Ministry of Development recently embarked on an insightful visit to the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) as part of their Induction Programme at the Civil Service Institute. The visit aimed to provide the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies in the public sector.
The visit commenced with an enlightening presentation by Dr. Lim Tiong Hoo, Senior Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Engineering, titled 'AI in Public Sectors – Exploring the Transformative Power and Governance of AI.' This session shed light on the potential of AI in revolutionising public services and the importance of effective governance frameworks.
Following this, Dr. Muhammad Norfauzi bin POKDPDP Hj Dani, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Engineering, delivered an informative talk on the 'Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AiML) Shell ai Lab.' This session provided insights into the cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning research and development initiatives taking place at UTB's state-of-the-art facilities.
The final session was presented by Ir Dr. Ahmad Azlan bin Ab Aziz, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Engineering, who discussed the 'Makers@5G Lab.' This presentation highlighted the potential of 5G technology and its applications in various sectors, showcasing UTB's commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
The visit concluded with a tour of the AiML Lab, AR/VR Lab, and 5G Maker Lab, allowing participants to witness firsthand the innovative research and development efforts undertaken by UTB in the fields of AI, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and 5G technology.
This collaboration between the Ministry of Development and UTB underscores the university's role as a hub of knowledge and innovation, contributing to the nation's efforts in embracing emerging technologies for the betterment of public services and the overall development of Brunei Darussalam.
