UTB received a visit from the Minister of Higher Education in Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry bin Abd Kadir.
Accompanying him were Tuan Yang Terutama Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam; and Yang Berusaha Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
The delegation was welcomed by Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB together with Yang Mulia Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education); Assistant Vice-Chancellors of UTB, Registrar and Secretary of UTB, and the staff of UTB.
The visit, held at UTB's Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AiML) Lab, commenced with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah. Following this, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB delivered a welcoming remark. Yang Mulia Dr. Mohamed Saiful bin Hj Omar, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (External and Industry Relations), then presented an overview of UTB's achievements, strategic initiatives, and future directions.
A demonstration of the TutorBot project by UTB students was shown, an educational tool that leverages artificial intelligence to support personalised learning. The demonstration illustrated how AI technology is being integrated into the university’s academic environment, creating new learning opportunities for students.
The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss potential partnerships in academic and research areas especially in relations to technological advancement.
