Micronet International College (MIC) honoured 36 students at Balai Khazanah Islam, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah for their accomplishments in these two programmes: the 14-week UTB-SP Bridging Programme in Computing (BriCOMP) and the UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programme.
A total of 10 students successfully completed the 14-week BriCOMP while 26 students completed the UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programme.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by a Welcoming Address by Yang Mulia Ms Sharon Chin, the General Manager of MIC. The event also featured speeches from student representatives of the BriCOMP and UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programmes.
The Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB Vice-Chancellor then delivered an opening remark, highlighting the successful partnership between UTB and MIC.
The Guest of Honour then presented certificates to the students and awarded Special Merits Awards to A’thiyah A’zimah binti Hj Md Khairul Azwan, from BriCOMP and Alyzza binti Md Aminurzaman @ Ong Ching Ching from UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programmes. The certificate presentation ceremony concluded with a token of appreciation presented by Yang Mulia Mr Slyvester Yong, Chief Executive Officer of MIC to the Guest of Honour.
The ceremony continued with the renewal signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for UTB-MIC Computing Degree programme and the signing of new MoA for UTB-MIC Business Degree programme between the two institutions.
Representing UTB were Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, witnessed by Acting Registrar and Secretary, Yang Mulia Awang Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar. Whereas, representing Micronet were the Chief Executive Officer, Yang Mulia Mr Sylvester Yong, and witnessed by General Manager of MIC, Yang Mulia Ms Sharon Chin.
Also in attendance were UTB University Executive Members, Mrs. Joyce Lim (Executive Director, MIC) and staff and students of MIC.
BriCOMP is a UTB-Satellite Partner Bridging Programme established in 2020 in partnership with MIC which provides opportunities for students who wish to pursue their undergraduate degree at UTB but fall short of points for admission into specific undergraduate programmes in School of Computing and Informatics. Some of the undergraduate programmes at UTB School of Computing and Informatics include BSc (Hons) in Digital Media, BSc (Hons) in Creative Multimedia, BSc (Hons) in Computing (Major in Software Development), BSc (Hons) in Computing (Major in Data Analytics), BSc (Hons) in Computer and Information Security and BSc (Hons) in Computer Networking.
UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programme is a programme that enables eligible students to admit into the second year of a computing degree programme at UTB, which includes BSc (Hons) in Computing (Major in Network Security); BSc (Hons) in Computing (Major in Multimedia); BSc (Hons) in Computing (Major in Software Development); and BSc (Hons) in Computer Networking.
UTB-MIC Business Degree Programmes provide students with a transition into the second year of selected undergraduate degree programmes at UTB. The programme currently offers two-degree pathways: Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Marketing Information Systems and Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Business Information Management.
