Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted the Launching of the Chancellor’s Trophy 2022 held at the Multipurpose Hall, Phase 3, UTB. The Chancellor’s Trophy was consented by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPUSB), hence the name given – Chancellor’s Trophy.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, the Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education.
Also present during the event was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB; Yang Mulia Dr. Hazri bin Haji Kiflie, Vice-Chancellor of UBD; Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Nor Arfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA; and Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Adnan bin Haji Besar, Ra’es of KUPUSB.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming remark by Yang Mulia Dayang Ummi Salamah binti Haji Mohamad Firdaus, Chairman of the Chancellor’s Trophy 2022.
The Vice-Chancellor of UTB, UBD, Rector of UNISSA and Ra’es of KUPUSB were then invited to be part of the launching by placing cut-puzzle at the launching mechanism. The Guest of Honour then placed the missing centered piece which completed the puzzle and simultaneously launched the Chancellor’s Trophy 2022. The completed puzzle was the official logo of the Chancellor’s Trophy.
The event proceeded with a multimedia presentation, and photo session. The Guest of Honour was then invited to tour the Chancellor’s Trophy Exhibition Arena where it showcased some of the sports and activities under the Chancellor’s Trophy competitions at the Multi-purpose Hall and Common Engineering Building (CEB), phase 3, UTB.
The tournament aims to motivate the sport’s development, competition and association between local Universities and Higher Education Institutions. The Chancellor’s Trophy competitions are open to all students and members of the Higher Education Institutions in the Sultanate.
