In conjunction with Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Convocation 2024, a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was held at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Mosque, Jalan Tungku Link, Gadong. The event saw 170 participants comprising of 43 male students and 127 female students.
The ceremony was graced by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development and Deputy Chair of UTB Council, as the Guest of Honour. UTB’s Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, was also in attendance.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Guest of Honour. This was followed by participants reciting Surah Ad-Dhuha until Surah Al-Masad, led by a graduating student from the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Nur Hazim Wafiuddin bin Haji Kamaruzaman.
The event then proceeded with Takhtim and Doa Khatam recited by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Zawir Firdaus bin Zamrani, graduan from Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Mathematics and Economics.
The Guest of Honour later presented certificates and souvenirs to the male khatam participants while UTB Vice-Chancellor presented for the female khatam participants. The ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat read by Yang Mulia Tuan Imam Abdul Muhaimin bin Dr Haji Serbini, Mosque Affairs Officer, UBD Mosque, Brunei Darussalam.
For the upcoming UTB Convocation Ceremony 2024, a total of 670 graduands will be graduating on Saturday, 7 September 2024 at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
