The Faculty of Engineering (FEng) hosted the Inaugural Professorial Lecture 2026 in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). The lecture was held at Lecture Theatre 2 of the university.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed welcoming remarks by Yang Mulia Dr Tan Soon Jiann, the Dean of FEng .
Yang Mulia Professor Dr Reddy Prasad then delivered his lecture on ‘Chemical Engineering Pathways for the Energy Transition: Towards a Sustainable Future’. The lecture highlighted the critical role of chemical engineering in addressing global energy challenges, particularly in advancing sustainable energy systems, decarbonisation strategies, process intensification, renewable resources, and emerging technologies that support the transition towards a low-carbon future.
The session also explored the key research challenges and emerging technological pathways to support the decarbonisation of the energy and chemical industries, focusing on scalable, energy-efficient, and sustainable solutions. The lecture concluded with a question-and-answer session.
