The MoU was signed by Dr. Mohd Saiful bin Haji Omar, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB, and Mr. Allen On, Director of IBE (Ministry of Finance and Economy) in his capacity as Board Member and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Imagine Sdn Bhd. The signing ceremony took place at Brunei Hotel, Bandar Seri Begawan, and was attended by officials from the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC), business partners, and representatives from both public and private sectors.

Dr. Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and witnessed the signing.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Allen On shared:

“This partnership reflects Imagine’s long-term commitment to developing Brunei’s human capital and aligns with the Brunei Darussalam Economic Blueprint. It supports the national vision of nurturing skilled, adaptive, and innovative individuals to drive a dynamic and sustainable economy in line with Wawasan Brunei 2035.”

In his remarks, Dr. Mohamad Saiful highlighted “One key component of this MoU is the Industry Apprenticeship Programme, which provides UTB students with the opportunity to gain practical workplace experience at Imagine. Through this exposure, they will develop industry-relevant skills and contribute fresh ideas and perspectives to the rapidly evolving digital landscape. The programme is designed to enhance the employability of both UTB students and graduates by supporting practical skill development, expanding professional networks, and creating pathways for career advancement. It also offers the opportunity to secure a Conditional Offer of Employment (CoE) upon successful completion, facilitating a smooth transition into the workforce.”

Through this collaboration, UTB students will have the opportunity to undertake internship placements across various departments within Imagine Sdn Bhd, including ICT infrastructure, digital product innovation, corporate strategy, marketing, and customer experience. The programme is designed to expose students to real-world challenges, enhance their professional development, and foster industry-readiness.
