> FORTY-EIGHT PROJECTS SHORTLISTED FOR THE CROWN PRINCE CIPTA AWARD 2023

A total of forty-eight exceptional projects were shortlisted in the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2023 competition comprising of individuals from the public, students from various secondary schools and institutions, as well as from the ASEAN countries. The competition attracts a diverse range of participants, all of whom have passion for innovation and creativity.

The general briefing was conducted in a hybrid format, with participants attending both in-person at Lecture Theatre 2, Phase 3 of the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) campus and virtually via the Zoom platform.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a multimedia presentation of CIPTA2023. Co-Head CIPTA 2023, Yang Mulia Pg Dr Rafidah binti Haji Petra, and Yang Mulia Dr Lim Pang Jen then took the stage to present a detailed explanation on the judging process, which is slated to take place on 16 to 18 May 2023 at UTB. The briefing was highly informative, providing participants with essential guidelines for report writing, presentation, assessment process, and judging criteria for the final round assessment of the competition.

As the session drew to a close, an open forum was conducted, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and obtain clarifications on the competition. The session provided a valuable platform for the participants to interact with the organisers and gain a deeper understanding of the competition's expectations.

CIPTA Award 2023, the tenth edition of the biennial competition organised by UTB in partnership with the main sponsors, Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad (Brunei LNG). The competition aims to inspire youth and the public to develop creative products, processes, or technology for national and ASEAN aspirations, and encourages participants to develop inventions and innovations that can positively impact society.

The general briefing session was a tremendous success, providing participants with the necessary information and guidance to prepare for the final assessment round of the competition. The session served as a reminder of the significance of innovation and creativity in driving sustainable development goals and the role of young minds in shaping the future.
