Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) reinforced its commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates through a series of health, wellness, and personal development initiatives held during the fourth day of UTB Mental Health Week 2026.
The day's programme continued with the “Mind Your Steps” Walkathon, organised in conjunction with BN on the Move 2026. Held under the theme “One UTB, Every Step Counts”, the event encouraged participants to embrace active lifestyles while recognising the strong connection between physical activity, mental well-being, and overall quality of life.
Commencing from the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), the walkathon brought together UTB students, staff, and members of the wider community in a collective effort to promote healthier living and strengthen social connections. Prior to the walk, participants took part in a group warm-up and stretching session, reinforcing the importance of regular exercise as a key component of maintaining both physical and mental health.
The walk followed the UTB-UBD route, providing participants with an opportunity to engage in physical activity while fostering meaningful interactions within a supportive and inclusive environment. The event highlighted how accessible activities such as walking can contribute positively to mental well-being by reducing stress, enhancing mood, improving concentration, and promoting stronger social bonds.
The walkathon also served as a platform to encourage mindfulness, community engagement, and shared responsibility in cultivating healthier lifestyle habits. Through active participation, attendees were reminded that small and consistent actions can contribute significantly to long-term physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
Together, the Healthy Habits: How Nutrition Affects Mental Health programme and the Mind Your Steps Walkathon reflected UTB's holistic approach to education, which recognises well-being as an integral component of student success and personal development. By integrating wellness education, healthy lifestyle practices, and community engagement, the University continued to equip students with the resilience, adaptability, and self-awareness needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected world.
The fourth day of UTB Mental Health Week 2026 demonstrated that holistic development extends beyond academic achievement, underscoring the importance of healthy habits, active living, and meaningful social connections in supporting lifelong learning, personal growth, and future readiness.
