ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENT AND ROBOTICS: UTB, DOF AND ODE JOINT APPROACH TO FRESHWATER PRAWN RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

> ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENT AND ROBOTICS: UTB, DOF AND ODE JOINT APPROACH TO FRESHWATER PRAWN RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) through Center of Research of AgriFood and Technology (CrAFT), Department of Fisheries (DoF) of Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), and O.D.E. Aquaculture and Agriculture Company.

This collaboration is to support government’s effort in the adoption of technologies by small and medium-sized businesses by applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics to resolve significant challenges in freshwater prawn production.

Present as the guest of honour at the event was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. Also present were UTB Principal Officers, project members, and staff of UTB and MPRT.

Signing on behalf of UTB was Yang Mulia Professor Dr Mohamed Hasnain Isa, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research) UTB, while the DoF was represented by the Director, Yang Mulia Dayang Noraini binti Haji Anggas, and the O.D.E was signed by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Zuhairi bin Haji Awang Azahari, the company manager.

This collaborative project is led by Dr Lim Tiong Hoo, a Senior Assistant Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Programme Area from Faculty of Engineering as the Projects Principal Investigator. According to Dr Lim Tiong Hoo, this project has been awarded a research grant amounting to more than BND 100K under the UK-ASEAN Institutional Links Early Career Researchers Scheme and ICT Virtual Organization of ASEAN Institutes and NICT (ASEAN IVO). The award of these grants will form a basis for collaboration between UTB, ODE and MPRT for opportunity to discover together in research and innovation that enable to take advantage of the benefits of IR 4.0 to industries, economies and societies.
