The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in Chemical Engineering are research-based programmes, where the students conduct an advanced and original academic research project in a specialised area of chemical or petroleum engineering under the supervision of suitably qualified and experienced academic staff members.
Over the supervised period of research, the students will gain the experience, knowledge and skills associated with conducting significant research work in chemical or petroleum engineering. The programmes will also equip the students with highly-specialised analytical, problem-solving and transferable skills that will enable them to subsequently embark onto a successful career as academics, researchers or practitioners in civil engineering or other related professions.
Applicants for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering must satisfy the following minimum general and programme-specific entry requirements:

Mature applicants must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent, in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, recognised by the Senate of UTB, at least 5 years of relevant working experience, pass an interview, and fulfill the same English language proficiency criteria above.
Note that a candidate will only be offered a place if the programme area is able to provide adequate supervision and facilities in the candidate’s chosen area of research.
