Welcome Message

A Warm Greeting from Universiti Teknologi Brunei, I hope it is not too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year 2026. May this new year bring continued success to us all. Amin, Amin, Amin Ya Rabbal Alamin.

Praise to Allah SWT, 16th January 2026 marks four decades of a transformative journey for Universiti Teknologi Brunei. We left 2025 with a significant milestone, that is, the launching of Mushaf UTB by His Majesty, Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Chancellor of UTB during the 13th Convocation of UTB on 3rd September 2025.

Please allow me to briefly introduce Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB in short) — Brunei Darussalam’s only Engineering and Technological University. Our journey began in 1986 as Institut Teknologi Brunei, before attaining university status in 2008, and was renamed as Universiti Teknologi Brunei on 1st March 2016. UTB now stands as a testament to the nation’s long-term investment in higher education, human capital development, and technological advancement.

Today, UTB is a compact yet impactful university, serving approximately 1,908 students, comprising 1,575 undergraduates and 333 postgraduates, supported by 251 dedicated staff members, including 131 academic staff. Our academic ecosystem is structured through the (1) Faculty of Engineering, (2) UTB School of Business, (3) School of Computing and Informatics, (4) School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics, (5) School of Design, and the (6) Centre for Communication, Teaching, and Learning. Complementing these are three focused research centres in transport (CfTR), green technology and sustainability (GreenTeXS), and agri-food science and technology (CrAFT) addressing both national priorities and global challenges.

Our Mission is to produce towering talents for a sustainable, global, and enterprising society deeply rooted  in our national philosophy (MIB) towards realising Wawasan Brunei 2035. In pursuing this mission, UTB aspires to fulfil its vision by being “A Global University of the Future”.

Alhamdulillah, UTB is ranked globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026 at 578, and in Asia at 135, in addition to being ranked within ASEAN and recognised in the Sustainability Rankings 2026.

The presence of industries and professional associations on campus is a testament to our close relationship. We have Pertubuhan Ukur, Jurutera and Arkitek (PUJA), Huawei Academy, CISCO, Sand Screen Modelling, Solar Farm, EV Car and Charging Stations, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Laboratories.

Lastly, as we commemorate 40 years of UTB, we remain firmly focused on our most important mandate: producing highly employable, ethically grounded, and globally competent graduates. Our curriculum continues to evolve dynamically, benchmarked against international best practices, and responsive to emerging technologies and workforce demands. Beyond academic excellence, UTB places strong emphasis on nurturing leadership, adaptability, innovation, and lifelong learning. Insya’Allah, our graduates will become integral to our nation’s growth and development.

Thank you.

Wabillahi Taufik Wahidayah Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
