A warm greeting from Universiti Teknologi Brunei.

Praise to Allah SWT. We are almost at the end of 2024. May we have a blessed and successful year. Amin.

Please allow me to introduce Universiti Teknologi Brunei or UTB. It was established in 1986 as Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB). The Institute was upgraded to a University status in 2008 before changing its name to Universiti Teknologi Brunei in 2016. We are a small university of Science, Technology, and Engineering under 50 years of age, with about  1,999 students (1,566 undergraduates and 433 postgraduates), 140 academic staff, and 113 non-academic staff (253 staff in total). Universiti Teknologi Brunei is a ranked University in Asia and the World by Quacquarelli Symmonds (QS, UK), Times Higher Education Impact Ranking (UK), and Applied HE Public and Private University Ranking 2024 (Singapore). We offer 38 programmes in Engineering, Science, and Technology. We will continue to review our programmes to ensure they align with workforce needs.

Universiti Teknologi Brunei is where you will be nurtured to make an impact in your field, supported by conducive learning, personal guidance, and growth opportunities. On 16th July 2024, we admitted 689 students, consisting of 473 undergraduate and 216 postgraduate students. Our graduates have brought pride to the university and the nation by excelling in national, ASEAN, and global innovation competitions. Their inventions will increase the University’s intellectual property rights, including patents for the industry.  Thus growing our innovation ecosystem. In addition, we also restructure our research centres and thrusts in alignment with global best practices. This includes establishing the Centre of Green Technology and Sustainable Research (GreenTeXs). By establishing the new research centre,  we will increase research publications in the area of green technology and innovations.

This year, we roll out our Strategic Plan 2024-2028, the Vision is Global University of the Future. Expanding our international presence is one of our strategic initiatives. We shall enhance our global collaborations through strategic partnerships. Our students will also benefit from current collaborations with Canada SEED, Piper, Huawei, UMAP, KUUB,  ATU-Netwrok, and others, The global prominence aims to attract international academic staff and students, enriching the campus with diverse cultures, learning experiences, and innovative thinking through research.
