Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) wanted to celebrate the remarkable achievements of two of its student representatives at the ATU-Net Student Leadership Forum 2024. The event took place last month in Hanoi, Vietnam on 10 September 2024. The event, which gathered exceptional student leaders from across Asia, provided a platform for showcasing innovative ideas and leadership skills.
Yang Di-Pertua (YDP) Dayang Aliyah binti Hj Kamarul Amir Ariffin emerged as one of the standout participants at the forum. She was awarded the prestigious Innovations in Your Specialty Award at the ISiC Competition hosted by Phenikaa University. This recognition came as a result of her impactful project, "From Divide to Dialogue: Navigating Ethnocentrism with D.E.I." Dayang Aliyah's work stood out among a vast array of international submissions, being one of only 20 awardees selected from 600 entries. Her achievement underscores her pioneering efforts in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Equally impressive was the performance of Naib Yang Di-Pertua (NYDP) Awang Muhamad Zahirul Aniq bin Supri, who received the Best Group Presentation Award. This highly competitive accolade was given to only one out of eight groups, highlighting the exceptional quality of his contribution. Awang Muhamad Zahirul Aniq's presentation, titled "The Limitations of Standardised Approaches in Diversity Initiatives: Encouraging Research into Context-Specific Solutions in Education," impressed the judges with its emphasis on tailored strategies to promote genuine inclusivity in educational settings.
The success of these students at the ATU-Net Student Leadership Forum 2024 underscored the exceptional leadership and intellectual prowess they brought to the event. Their achievements have further solidified UTB's standing as a premier institution for nurturing world-class student leaders. This event not only showcased the individual talents of YDP Dayang Aliyah and NYDP Awang Muhamad Zahirul Aniq but also reflected the high standards of education and leadership development at UTB.
The university's commitment to fostering innovation, critical thinking, and global awareness among its students was evident in the quality of their contributions to this international forum. As UTB continues to produce leaders capable of excelling on the global stage, it reinforces its position as a leading institution in higher education, preparing students to address complex challenges with creativity and cultural sensitivity.
