27 May 2021 – A total of 322 projects were displayed at the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Project Showcase 2021 featuring final year students’ projects from the Faculty of Engineering (FEng), School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), UTB School of Business (UTB-SB), School of Applied Sciences & Mathematics (SASM) and School of Design (SDe).

The showcase was officiated by Yang Mulia Awang Haji Ady Syarmin bin Hj Md Taib, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB as the Guest of Honour. The event took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall of UTB.

Also present were UTB principal officers; invited guests from the government, higher education institutions, schools and industry partners; staff and students of the university.

Carrying the slogan “Celebrating a year of creativity, innovation & progress”, the event aimed to celebrate the accomplishment of the undergraduate students from all Faculty and Schools by highlighting the high quality of projects completed during the year.

The event provided a platform for the students to showcase and present their ideas and creativity to the visitors. The one-day showcase also offered a chance for private and public agencies to identify potential candidates for any employment opportunities.

This year, People’s Choice Award was incorporated to the event to recognise and reward the efforts put by students in their project. Visitors at the event were encouraged to vote for their favourite project. The project that receives the highest number of votes will win the award under the five respective categories namely Faculty of Engineering, School of Computing and Informatics, UTB School of Business, School of Applied Sciences & Mathematics and School of Design.

From the FEng, 107 projects were showcased by the Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Petroleum & Chemical Engineering programme areas. Under SASM, Food Science & Technology and Applied Mathematics & Economics programme areas displayed a total of 28 projects. As for the SDe, 39 projects were featured under the Architecture programme area.

Meanwhile for UTB-SB, there were 75 final year projects showcased under Accounting, Economics, and Management programme areas. Also sharing the venue was SCI where a total of 73 final year projects were displayed. The projects included under the Creative Computing, Computer & Information Systems, and Computer Network & Security programme areas.
