Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) recently hosted its annual event, the UTB Project Showcase 2024, organised by the Faculty of Engineering and Centre for Communication, Teaching and Learning at the Multi-Purpose Hall and Faculty of Engineering Building of the university, in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2024.
This year’s showcase was a testament to the diversity of student innovation, featuring an impressive array of 376 student projects from the Faculty of Engineering (FEng), Centre for Communication, Teaching, and Learning (CCTL), UTB School of Business (UTB SB), School of Computing, and Informatics (SCI), School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics (SASM) and School of Design (SDe).
Under the theme ‘Inventive Minds, Sustainable Visions: Merging Creativity and Responsibility,' the one-day event aimed to spotlight and celebrate the achievements of final-year undergraduate students. This theme was chosen to reflect the students' innovative thinking and their commitment to creating solutions that are not only creative but also sustainable, thereby merging creativity and responsibility in their projects.
The showcase not only provided a platform for students to present their ideas, but also fostered a spirit of collaboration. It was a prime opportunity for public and private organisations to identify promising talent and explore potential collaborations, thereby contributing to the growth of the academic and industrial sectors.
Yang Mulia Dr Au Thein Wann, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB, was present as the Guest of Honour, along with UTB principal officers; invited guests from the government, higher education institutions, schools and industry partners, staff and students at the university.
The showcase commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming speech by Yang Mulia Pg Dr Seri Rahayu binti Pg Ya’akub, Acting Dean of Faculty of Engineering and and Co-Organiser of this year’s project showcase. The Guest of Honour then officially opened the UTB Project Showcase 2024, followed by a tour.
