Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) celebrated Hari Raya Aidil Adha by organising Majlis Ibadah Korban and Aqiqah ceremony at the University’s Concourse Hall. The annual event a joint effort by the Religious Unit, Student Affairs Office and UTB Student Representative Council (MPPUTB), was graced by the presence of Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was also attended by Principal Officers; the university staff, students, and invited guests.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by Selawat Tafrijiyyah and a mass Takbir Raya. Ustaz Ahmad Muzhafar bin Haji Marsidi, Assistant Religious Development Officer at Islamic Da'wah Centre, delivered a thought-provoking religious talk on “Erti Pengorbanan” (The Meaning of Sacrifice).
As a highlight of the ceremony, the Guest of Honour distributed sacrificial meat to 14 asnaf fakir miskin (underprivileged individuals). The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to the invited speaker and the recitation of the Doa Selamat.
Through this ceremony, UTB not only celebrated the significance of Hari Raya Aidil Adha but also reinforced the importance of sacrifice, compassion, and community support.
