Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) welcomed a courtesy visit from the Timor Leste For Futuru Lider Ba ASEAN (FLBA) of Timor Leste. The visit, held at the University’s Main Conference Room, aimed to strengthen educational and diplomatic ties between the two nations. His Excellency Abel Guterres, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
The Timorese delegation included Ms Carmelita Soares, Third Secretary; Celestina Gomes Pereira, Senior Gender and Advocacy Officer, Care in Timor Leste; Isidoro Guterres, Lead, ANJEU-TL; Valeriano Tome Da Silva, Architect, Ministry of Education, Science and Culture; Vieiras De Deus, General Assistant, Association Enterprise Construction Civil Obras Public (AECCOP); Elisita Clementina Amaral, International Relations student from University Dili; Angelito Freitas Lopes, General Medical from Association Commercial Industry of Timor Leste; Juliao Prego de Andrade, Student from the National University at Timor Leste; Digna de Edita Aniceto Serrao, Official Protocol Officer at the Secretariat of State for Social Communications; and Ruben de Jesus Ximenes, Student from the University Dili.
His Excellency and the delegation were received by UTB’s senior officials: Yang Mulia Dr Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (External and Industry Relations); Yang Mulia Dr Hajah Ena Kartina binti Haji Abdul Rahman, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs); Yang Mulia Professor Dr Mohamad Hasnain Isa, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation); and staff of the university.
The visit commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a welcoming remark from Dr. Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar and an introduction of the university by Dayang Serina Ali, Director of Corporate Communications Office, UTB. Subsequently, the delegation toured the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AiML) Lab and the Holographic Education (Holo-Ed) facilities at Lecture Theatre 4.
Through this visit, UTB strengthen its ties with Timor Leste, fostering educational collaborations between the two nations.
